What I've Been Doing

Everyday that brings me closer to leaving I start thinking more and more about not only all the adventures I'm going to have but also the money I need to raise. But I haven't just been sitting around waiting. A month ago I got a job that's really been helping me. I've started talking to family and friends about subscribing to a newsletter while I'm abroad. Hopefully, this will be a great way to raise money and keep in touch while I'm abroad. I've also looked into a company that sells tea, and when I sell it to people in my community, I'll get a percentage of the profits. Still throwing ideas around about a carwash too. I'm getting closer to my goal, but I'm still sooo far away.

Hi, my name's Caroline Weldon and I'm from Walpole, Massachusettes. This year I'm going to be a sophmore at Walpole High School. I've applied to be sent abroad for a year in the fall of 2010 with American Field Service (AFS) intercultural student exchange programs.

I've always been interested in other cultures and wanted to travel the world. I'm hoping this experience will open my eyes to a better understanding of the rest of the world through the experience of living in a new language and culture. I'm hoping my friends and family will all be able to learn with me as I take this step towards a new life and a new me. I want to bring a taste of American culture to my new host family and document my trip through this blog.
